Landowners
As a responsible developer, we work closely with landowners to ensure the terms of our lease are bespoke to your land and your priorities.
Partnering with landowners
You may be considering what benefits there are to hosting one of our clean energy projects on your land. Beyond the obvious of helping to combat climate change and supporting more low carbon energy in the UK, landowners are seeing a range of benefits to leasing their land for solar, onshore wind, battery storage and other clean energy technologies.
Dual land use
Drawing on best practice from our European partners, we work with landowners to establish the right dual use approach for your land. This could mean that (alongside our clean energy project, which usually occupies less than 50% of leased land) crops can still be grown or livestock raised or bees kept. This allows farmers to continue to generate income through agricultural activities.
Reliable returns
Our projects are long-term, and we enter into leases that reflect this with every landowner. You will receive annual inflation linked lease payments for the duration of the project, providing a stable source of income for many years and securing a diversified revenue stream to manage estate planning.
Rental income from clean energy projects is also considered favourably by banks and lenders. This can help landowners successfully secure further finance against the rental income.
Improved biodiversity
Our long-term projects provide the opportunity for local ecosystems to thrive, enhance habitat creation and improve soil health. We will develop bespoke plans for your land that detail how we will leave the local ecology on our sites in a better state than how we found it.
Partnering with Telis Energy UK
As a responsible developer, we work closely with you to ensure the terms of our lease reflect your land and meet our collective priorities. Our team of experts will guide you through the process and are available to answer any questions you may have to ensure the land lease is mutually beneficial.
We understand the individual nature of land and will look to work with the people who know it best – you the landowner.
The process
Landowner identification
After detailed desktop assessments, our land team will identify land we think could work well as part of our hybrid energy hubs and introduce ourselves to the landowner. Although there are specific conditions that make the land right for us, we’re always open to landowners reaching out – so do get in touch if you would like to partner with us.
Pre-application
Once we have identified land that we think is appropriate, and the landowner has confirmed their interest, we will enter into a cooperation agreement. We would then work with the landowner and the agent to agree Heads of Terms. In the meantime, the planning team will begin to develop the project’s planning application.
Surveys and assessments
While we’re in the pre-application phase, we’ll undertake some surveys and assessments to get an idea of the specifics of the site, and potential environmental considerations.
During this phase we’ll also work with you to agree the ‘Option to Lease’ documentation.
Planning submission
At this stage, we’ll submit our planning application to the relevant authorities. A decision can take 4-6 months from submission for smaller projects or 18 months for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.
Construction and operation
When construction starts, you’ll start to receive your annual rental payments. Throughout the construction and operational lifespan of the project, there will always be a contact you can reach out to if you have any concerns.
